Designing AR experiences for Kids
about.
Empowering children as creators, not just consumers.
In these projects, I explored how learning can be playful, participatory, and connected to children’s imagination. I focused on shifting the role of children from passive users to active creators, emphasizing hands-on making, story-building, and the joy of exploration.
If I Ride VR.
Learning through hands-on experiences: Drawing, Building, and Biking.
If I Ride VR is a playful workshop where children bring their imaginary worlds to life. Participants create clay figures and draw backgrounds, then ride a stationary bike through the VR environment they built. This project combines the joy of tactile making with the immersive wonder of virtual reality, encouraging active, creative learning.
Created with Gahee
Animap.
An augmented reality puzzle game that helps children learn about maps, animals, and biomes in an interactive, hands-on way.
Designed during my time as a Designer-in-Residence at the New York Hall of Science, Animap encourages children to explore geography and ecosystems by solving AR-based puzzles
Co-ideated and developed the concept in collaboration with Explainers at the New York Hall of Science.
ARigami
A playful AR app that brings children’s handmade origami to life in magical 3D environments.
ARigami combines hands-on making and digital play, allowing children to print, decorate, fold, and animate their origami animals through augmented reality. The app encourages creativity and bridges physical crafting with interactive AR experiences.
